Kaus On Crazy Ass John Fund And America's "Need" For A Bracero Program

Source: Kausfiles
The Fund Challenge: The Wall Street Journal's John Fund has been arguing the virtues of a revived bracero program with a repetitive vigor that borders on desperation. He reasons, non-crazily, that any successful immigration reform will have to provide take into account the labor demands of U.S. employers by allowing some immigrant workers into the country. Fund also argues, along with the rest of the "comprehensive" chorus, that Congress absolutely must pass a law to reform immigration this year (as long as it's a law they agree with). ...

So here's a deal for Fund and his confederates: What if Congress passes a House-style enforcement bill, but adds to it a sizable bracero (guest worker) program--but that program is limited to foreign workers who haven't broken the law by entering the country illegally. In other words, "new" braceros only. No legalization of existing illegals, either directly (as in Bush-style "comprehensive" reform) or through the Pence Scam (which would let illegals jump the queue by arranging with their current U.S. employers for "earmarked" guest worker slots).**

Show Prep 073106: The Muslim Conundrum

Welcome To America -- Now Speak English!

Coming at ya live from 1-4 Central time.  We spent several hours this weekend getting a handle on the tech problems we were having last week.  God willing I think we have them mostly beat.

Things we got up to this weekend...

We went and saw this, here.  A good time was had by all.

We rented this.

*****

Last week another adherent of the religion of crispy pieces went on a shooting spree.  Within minutes of the shooting law enforcement waved it's magic wand and tried to convince us this wasn't terrorism.

It was.

Hour One: Can Muslims be Americans?

Gunman kills 1, injures 5 in Jewish Federation shooting
SEATTLE – One person is dead and five others have been injured in a shooting at the Jewish Federation at 2031 Third Ave. in downtown Seattle. One suspect has been taken into custody.

According to the Seattle Times, a man got through security at the Jewish Federation and told staff members, "I'm a Muslim American; I'm angry at Israel," then began shooting, according to Amy Wasser-Simpson, the vice president for planning and community services for the Jewish Federation.

FBI spokesman David Gomez said officials believe the suspect acted alone and is not affiliated with a foreign organization.
Michelle Malkin provides a round up of quite a few "non-terrorist" related shootings, all with an interesting common thread.

The Divine Miss M also profiles one of this douchebags victims.

Always On Watch asks the tough question.

Hour Two: From the mouths of...illegals

The money quote...
"We're in a state [Kentucky] where there's nothing but Americans. The police control the streets. It's clean, no gangs. California now resembles Mexico - everyone thinks like in Mexico. California's broken."
Lonewacko's take

Steve Sailor's take

My take: This one family, citizens of a foreign power have Hoovered up millions of dollars of your tax money all the while California sinks under the weight of millions of unassimilable aliens, even the aliens themselves, who, unlike the greedy politicians who created the problems acknowledge that like locusts they have stripped California free of it's very Americanness and now seek to swarm the rest of the country performing the same feat.

Obsession: The Movie

The internet certainly has changed things since I was a kid. I just watched this movie on Google's video site. It details radical Islam's aims and motivations. Interestingly enough we recently watched "Islam: what the west needs to know" at a local art theater, so it seems like there is some impetus behind this idea. The primary difference between the two is that Obsession takes the point of view that only a small percentage (which is still a hell of a lot of people) buy into radical Islam. "Islam: what the west needs to know" was predicated on the notion that Islam itself was the root problem. Both are good films, both have critical information.

Watch Obsession here.

Go Here, Read This..

I would like to nominate Mr. Venkat Mullur into the pantheon of great Americans. As I have said repeatedly, I believe in my heart that any person can be an American, but it requires something more than simply being here or holding papers.

It requires a love of this country to be a true American and I am reduced to tears when I read this man's heartfelt cry for his adopted country...
I am a naturalized American, having originally come to this great country, in 1991, from India.

Words cannot even begin to describe the incredible sense of loss, helplessness, and anger I feel when I see the pernicious effects of uncontrolled, unbridled illegal immigration. Rapidly deteriorating neighborhoods in and around my home city Chicago, rising gang crimes, trash on the streets of Schaumburg where I live, and overcrowded apartment complexes in Hoffman Estates - these are but some of the visible signs of rapid degradation in our quality of lives. This apart, in this article, I will focus on the sheer hypocrisy of those in this country that are directly benefiting from illegal entry of aliens into this country. We shall also examine some of the "arguments" put forth freely and cynically by the elites to fool the American people into believing that illegal aliens are somehow good for this country.
Please read the whole thing.

As Willy Wonka Sez...

"Scratch that, reverse it."

Source: Memri

(as always, bits to be reversed bolded for your reading pleasure)

Hossein Shariatmadari, editor of the conservative Iranian daily Kayhan, affiliated with Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, called today (July 17, 2006) in his editorial to "wipe Israel off the map." He said: "There are many signs and portents indicating that 'the fateful day' is coming near. It is possible that this day... has already begun...

"The Muslim peoples and many other peoples think that, in global geopolitics, there is no such thing as the state of Israel, and that the [entity] which presently bears this name is a usurping and rootless state that has imposed its parasitic presence over the region and over Palestine with the support of the arrogant powers. [This entity] invents a new crime every day. It causes men, women, and innocent children to bleed to death, or else deports them from their homeland and turns them into refugees. In light of this 'problem,' which is perfectly obvious, the annihilation of the Zionist regime is not only a religious and national duty, but also a universal human duty, from which no Muslim or free human being can be exempt. . .

The Muslim peoples must not allow this conflict to remain within the boundaries of the region. The Zionists are dispersed in many places around the world, and it is not so difficult to locate and get [our] hands on them. The entire world can and must be made unsafe for the Zionists, [including] their political and commercial centers. This does not require the governments' approval... The fateful day may have begun, and fierce revenge on the barbaric Zionists is underway, Allah willing."(2)

And, as Cap'n Jack sez..."Savvy?"

A Proud Moment In Chicago

Source: WND
A Philadelphia-based Christian ministry has filed a lawsuit claiming three of its members were harassed by authorities in Chicago for sharing their faith with homosexuals in the city for the "Gay Games," an Olympics-style sports event.
We have been seeing this more and more here in the windy city. In fact we reported on an example here and here.

The first amendment is literally dying and withering in front of our eyes.  Whoever looks to be the most violent in any confrontation is guaranteed to win one concession from the police, their first amendment rights.

Is that how it's supposed to work?

Oh, Yeah, I almost Forgot...

Source: ncwn

This pertains to the previous story immediately below this one.  Our chuckleheaded Jihadi said this upon capture...
"I'm a Muslim American;"
Uh-huh, coupla things dirtbag. Presence in this country no more makes you an "American" than my being lodged in Ruben Studdard's sphincter makes me his "special friend."

Let me perfectly, ridiculously clear where I stand here. If a person espouses Jihadi opinions, thoughts, or actions, that person, is by very definition, NOT an American!

If a Nazi spy were caught amonst the populace during WWII would you jump up and down and proclaim their American qualities?

One doubts it, doubts it most highly.

I feel I must employ my standard phrase for when this situation arises...

"Import savages, get savagery."

It truly ain't complicated folks. When you let in Jihadi's don't act amazed that you reap Jihadi actions and responses from nice little savages such as this fellow. I have zero patience for the "but most are really very nice" argument.

Really? Is this true? If so, how do you know it's true?

I do know that every so often we have to kill or jail several of our "New Americans" for wishing to destroy this country. Not exactly a glowing endorsement for inclusion, or am I wrong?

Nope, No Terrorism Here...

Source: nwcn

Why is it when a Muslim-American, or as I prefer, an Islamotard, shoots up a group of jewish folk that never harmed him and were pointedly minding their own damn business and then proceeds to say something along these lines...
"I'm a Muslim American; I'm angry at Israel,"
The FBI feel compelled to make a statement like this...
FBI spokesman David Gomez said officials believe the suspect acted alone and is not affiliated with a foreign organization.
K?

Any proof there Dav-o? No? They teach you to spout this kind of nonsense in G-man school?

Let's recap for the slow and retarded.

1.) He's a Muslim, presumably a faithful adherent of the religion of crispy pieces spreading sunshine and puppies throughout the known universe.

2.) He explicitly stated a Jihadist motive while killing non-random, yet innocent folk, much like a...jihadist might?

3.) He's marvelously stupid, much like the majority of his fellow adherents to the religion of medium sized crispy pieces, original recipe of course (the spices are better, fool!).

So, when we put this data into our amazing law enforcement abacus of many wonders what answer is staring us in the face?

After years of LEO training and dedicated experience what's the conclusion our cappucino swilling agent comes to immediately after the shooting occured and they knew little more than the fact that our protagonist in this little tale was an adherent of the world's most quaint religion and had an IQ that would frighten a special ed teacher into renouncing their chosen profession?
FBI spokesman David Gomez said officials believe the suspect acted alone and is not affiliated with a foreign organization.
Exactly the conclusion I would have reached had I been viciously struck in the head several times with a dummy stick.

A reminder of all the Jihadi activity most definitely NOT taking place in America!

Arranged marriages in Michigan: A reader from Dearborn writes;
We have a very large population of immigrants from the Middle East, many of whom are Muslims. Marrying off daughters who do not do well in school by the age of 16 is not uncommon. Of course, this is arranged by dad. In addition, some of the dad's accept a dowry for one of their daughters while visiting the home land. Dearborn schools are constantly on the alert for kidnappings uniting school girls with their unknown future husbands in the Middle East. These girls don't have a choice. Wake up, Steve, and join the 16th century! It's as if we have sharia (Muslim law) in Dearborn.
Remind me, why do we let these people in?

Would Somebody Slap Our Government Please!

The stench of stupidity is getting a little hard to bear.  (I understand their may be questions of veracity so my statement is conditional upon it's being true)

Source: cnet
In a meeting that will go down in internet history, the United States government last night conceded that it can no longer expect to maintain its position as the ultimate authority over the internet.

Having been the internet’s instigator and, since 1998, its voluntary taskmaster, the US government finally agreed to transition its control over not-for-profit internet overseeing organisation ICANN, making the organisation a more international body.

However, assistant commerce secretary John Kneuer, the US official in charge of such matters, also made clear that the US was still determined to keep control of the net’s root zone file - at least in the medium-term.

“The historic role that we announced that we were going to preserve is fairly clearly articulated: the technical verification and authorisation of changes to the authoritative root,” Kneuer explained following an afternoon of explicit statements from US-friendly organisations and individuals that it was no longer viable for one government to retain such power over the future of a global resource.
This had better not be true, that's all I have to say about that. Carry on, enjoy your weekend.

Senate Bill: A Nightmare?

Source: Polipundit

Michael Cutler, Former Examiner, Inspector, and Special Agent (INS) :
“My fear is that because we are dealing with millions of illegal aliens who, in the parlance of the open borders advocates, are undocumented, have no verifiable means of proving their true identities. This means that if this program were enacted, these millions of illegal aliens would be able to go to an immigration office, assume any identity they found convenient and receive official identity documents from our government. It would be a simple matter for a terrorist or criminal, to walk into such an office, provide a false name to the over-worked bureaucrat at USCIS who will probably be given only a minute or two at most to interview each applicant.”
Michael Maxwell, Former Director of the Office of Security and Investigations (USCIS):
“Implementation of the Senate bill would codify the nightmare and ensure that the criminals, terrorists, and foreign intelligence operatives who have already gamed our immigration system are issued legal immigration documents and allowed to stay permanently.”
More juicyness at the link.

Oh, and the use of the word "parlance" has given me a vocabulary woodie!

Show Prep 072806: The Matricular Consular Eroding America's Sovereignty?

Hour One: What the hell is this thing?

Source: CIS
In the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, a migration deal with Mexico was tabled while attention turned to homeland security. So the Mexican government abruptly changed its White House strategy and substituted a grass-roots approach that would focus at the local level, seek small successes, and build momentum for congressional action. The linchpin for this new strategy was to be the “matricula consular,” an official identity card issued by the Mexican government, which it wanted to be officially recognized within the United States.

This Backgrounder is the first detailed examination of the matricula issue. Among the findings:

* The matricula consular is useful in the United States only for illegal aliens, since legal immigrants, by definition, have U.S. government-issued documents.

* The Mexican government has launched an aggressive grassroots lobbying campaign to win acceptance for its matricula card from state and local jurisdictions and from banks, especially in areas where Mexican illegal aliens are concentrated.

* The objective of this lobbying effort is to achieve quasi-legal status for Mexican illegals in the United States without waiting for action from Washington.

* The matricula itself, however, is useful to illegal aliens only insofar as U.S. institutions are willing to collaborate with Mexico’s efforts to circumvent U.S. immigration law.

* While many jurisdictions have resisted pressure from the Mexican government, others have not; the matricula is now accepted by 800 local law enforcement agencies and 74 banks, as well as by 13 states for purposes of obtaining a driver’s license.

* Not only does the matricula subvert U.S. immigration law, it is not even a secure identity document. Mexico is not authenticating the documents used to obtain the matricula against computerized data files in Mexico.

* Safeguards are not in place to prevent multiple issuance of matriculas to the same individual; in fact, the INS has already reported finding multiple cards in different names issued to the same person.

* The matricula is becoming a shield that hides criminal activity for two reasons: first, the holder’s identity was not verified when the card was issued, and second, police in jurisdictions that accept the matricula are less likely to run background checks on card holders picked up for minor infractions.

* The U.S. Treasury Department has given its approval to banks to accept the matricula for opening bank accounts.

* The acceptance of Mexico’s matricula consular sets a precedent, making it almost impossible to reject similar cards presented by illegal aliens from other countries, including those which have sent terrorists to the United States in the past.

Early in September 2001, the Mexican government had every expectation that it would soon achieve its principal foreign policy goal — a comprehensive migration agreement with the United States that would create new guest worker programs, exempt Mexico from visa limits, and “regularize” the immigration status of the estimated three to five million Mexicans already living in the United States illegally.

After 9/11, public and congressional opposition in the United States to an illegal-alien amnesty hardened and made such a deal impossible. In its place, Mexico sought piecemeal changes, centered on gaining acceptance in the United States for the “matricula consular.” But Mexico’s new approach has become a direct challenge to U.S. sovereignty — by aggressively lobbying state and local governments, Mexico is changing America’s de facto immigration policy in lieu of congressional action. And it has been doing so while the U.S. government watched — or even gave its tacit consent.
Matricula not Secure
Mexico is not authenticating breeder documents. For an identity card to be secure, the “breeder” documents provided must be authenticated to guard against identity fraud. Safeguards must also be in place to ensure that the goal of one person, one identity, one card is met.

This issue is particularly complicated for the Mexican government, which is fully aware that its nationals commit document and identity fraud to remain in the United States. Previously, this issue was not of concern to them; but now, the Mexican government is warning its citizens against this practice.
FBI Official Says Matricula Consular Card Is Security Threat
"Clearly, this is a threat to vulnerability," Steven McCraw, the assistant director of the FBI's Office of Intelligence, told a House immigration panel yesterday.

“The FBI is particularly concerned about fraudulent financial transactions in the post 9/11 environment, given the fact that foreign terrorists often rely on money transferred from within the United States.”—McCraw, FBI “Federal officials have discovered individuals from many different countries in possession of the matricula consular card. … At least one individual of Middle Eastern descent has also been arrested in possession of the matricula consular card. The ability of foreign nationals to use the matricula consular to create a well-documented, but fictitious, identity in the United States provides an opportunity for terrorists to move freely within the United States without triggering name-based watch lists that are disseminated to local police officers. It allows them to board planes without revealing their true identity.”—McCraw, FBI
Homeland security has also expressed concerns (Skeletor must have taken a sick day)
"We're very concerned about these cards,' said Homeland Security Department Assistant Secretary C. Stewart Verdery.

Verdery voiced concern about misuse of the cards as "breeder documents' to more easily gain access to other documents, such as driver's licenses, and create false identities

We believe that individuals have been able to obtain multiple cards under multiple names, an occurrence which poses a significant security issue and impacts their reliability as valid forms of identification.

Another concern is the extent to which consular identification cards are used as “breeder documents,” that is, to more easily gain access to other documentation, such as drivers’ licenses. We are concerned that foreign consular identification cards fraudulently obtained could aid criminal activity - such as money laundering - by facilitating the creation of false identities. We need to examine not only the security features of these cards but also the security of the issuance process and the documentary requirements for obtaining them.
Yet our government pushes banks and businesses to accept them...
U.S. Treasury gives banks comfort to accept the matricula. A key factor influencing the banking community to accept the matricula is its belief that the U.S. Treasury Department has given its approval.19 “Under section 326(b) of the USA Patriot Act, Congress directed that Treasury, in consultation with the federal functional regulators and other relevant agencies, study and provide recommendations for enhancing the ability of domestic financial institutions to verify the identity of foreign nationals.”20

In its report to Congress, Treasury spelled out what type of information a financial institution may require from a non-U.S. person seeking to open an account: “The regulations state that financial institutions may accept one or more of the following: a U.S. taxpayer identification number; a passport number and country of issuance; an alien identification card number, or the number and country of issuance of any other government-issued document evidencing nationality or residence and bearing a photograph or similar safeguard.” (Italics added.)21

That sentence was followed by footnote 17. It was a shocker. “Thus, the proposed regulations do not discourage bank acceptance of the ‘matricula consular’ identity card that is being issued by the Mexican government to immigrants.”
Or the Mexican consulate scares local politicians into accepting them...
Consider, for example, how the cards’ promotion has affected the rule of law in the city of Waukegan, Illinois. (Chicago Tribune, Sept. 15th, 2002, “Hispanics are flexing their political muscle” Pay archive). There, several aldermen opposed the acceptance of the matricula consular. How did the pro-matricular forces (which included a Mexican consul) deal with it?

“The Hispanic community rallied 1,000-strong outside City Hall, chanting and waving signs that read, ‘Stop the Racism’....that Aug. 19th protest ....ended with the mayor ordering police to accept the cards as valid identification.... ”

(The aldermen didn’t even get to vote on the question, by the way).
And of course the media, never misses a chance to support illegals...
It’s been called a matter of public safety. It’s been said that the cards give “dignity” to illegal aliens. An editorial in the Indianapolis Star (Feb. 10th, 2003) reassured us that “The Mexican ID card is not a threat to national security, but a tool for facilitating communication.” It went on to attack those who question the matricula: “Concern that Mexican ID cards issued by the Indianapolis consulate pose a threat to national security should be dismissed for what it is: prejudice against Mexican immigrants.”

Fall into line, in other words, or be branded a racist.

How many times have we heard this tired excuse for an argument?
Of course Mexican officials and some media deny the card has anything to do with immigration...
According to Maria Elena Salinas, Jorge Ramos’ co-anchor on the Spanish-language TV network Univision: “...it is not an illegal-alien ID card...”

Roberto Rodriguez, director general of the Bureau for Protection and Consular Services “The consular ID’s purpose is to provide identification for nationals. It has nothing to do with immigration.”

Mexico’s Deputy Consul for North and South Carolina: “This is not about immigration...This is about the safety of our citizens.”
Mexican consuls regularly meddle in our internal politics, this will be the subject of a future show, today just let me say I do not understand why our weak-willed government plays patty cake with a country that we are currently at war with.

And here's the ultimate problem, when the very idea of citizenship is subverted you get statements like this one...
The INS spokesman for the LA district said that "Our priorities are to go after illegal immigrants committing crime. If they are law-abiding citizens, we don't have the resources to go looking for them."
Just so's it's clear, your government is now calling illegal aliens "citizens."  (and you know in your heart that president Bush has to bite his tongue to keep from making the same slip)

Tancredo Introduces Bill to Halt Illegal Alien Voting

I LOVE THIS GUY!  (ahem, in a manly, totally non sexual way, of course)

Source: Tancredo house
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Tom Tancredo (R-CO), Chairman of the 104-Member House Immigration Reform Caucus, introduced a bill that would penalize states which refuse to require proof of U.S. citizenship for voting. Under the Voter Integrity Protection Act (VIP Act), states would need to see a valid photo ID proving U.S. Citizenship for voting or those states would have their federal highway funding cut by as much as 40 percent.

“In some parts of our country, all residents are granted a de facto right to vote, regardless of whether or not they are citizens. Such widespread voter fraud blurs the line between residency and citizenship and it reinforces the message that you don’t need to be an American to have every right and privilege of American citizenship. If even non-citizens can vote, what value does American citizenship have anymore?” said Tancredo. “Illegal votes undermine our democracy. The VIP Act would help preserve the integrity of our democratic system, which is one of the most important responsibilities we have in Congress.”

“In many states today, you can register to vote without ever being required to show that you are a citizen. Motor-voter registration and a rise in absentee ballots have only exacerbated voter fraud. If certain states are really so committed to protecting illegal aliens who vote, let them put their money where their mouth is and take a hard hit in federal funding,” said Tancredo.

Sheriff says border violence worsening

Drug and smuggling gangs controlling Mexican border territory are proving an increasingly violent and sophisticated threat to Texas border law enforcement, Zapata County Sheriff Sigifredo Gonzales told a state Senate committee Wednesday.

"The weapons we possess are like water guns compared to what they have," Gonzales said. "They're trying to scare us away from the border."

Gonzales, representing the Texas Border Sheriffs' Coalition, was one of more than a dozen witnesses testifying before the Committee on Transportation and Homeland Security. The panel was in South Texas for a hearing on border security and funding for sheriffs along the border.

Gonzales said federal efforts to protect the U.S. side of the border have failed, allowing foreign criminals to infiltrate Texas counties — in some cases just to commit violent crimes before slipping back into Mexico.

"Many murders committed in Laredo were committed by Mexican gang members," he said. "(Improvised Explosive Devices) seized in Laredo, we think were being brought to Mexico to be used against us."

Laredo is in Webb County, just west of Zapata County. Gonzales said that in his own county, residents have reported men marching two abreast, carrying backpacks and automatic weapons. He recounted the barrage of gunfire coming at Hidalgo County sheriff's deputies from across the Rio Grande this month.

"It's not just illegal immigrants," he said. "Something more frightening is happening."

Steve McCraw, the governor's director of homeland security, said: "I call them organized crime. They're no longer traffickers."

al-Zawahri Calls for Holy War Against Israel

Source: Yahoo! News

Al-Qaida's No. 2 leader issued a worldwide call in a new videotape released Thursday for Muslims to rise up in a holy war against Israel and join the fighting in Lebanon and Gaza until Islam reigns from "Spain to Iraq."

In the message broadcast by Al-Jazeera television, Ayman al-Zawahri, second in command to Osama bin Laden, said that al-Qaida now views "all the world as a battlefield open in front of us."

The Egyptian-born physician said that the fighting between Israel and Hezbollah and Palestinian militants would not be ended with "cease-fires or agreements."
Does it get any freakin' clearer than this? Or this:

"My fellow Muslims, it is obvious that Arab and Islamic governments are not only impotent but also complicit ... and you are alone on the battlefield. Rely on God and fight your enemies ... make yourselves martyrs."

*SNIP*

"The shells and rockets ripping apart Muslim bodies in Gaza and Lebanon are not only Israeli (weapons), but are supplied by all the countries of the crusader coalition. Therefore, every participant in the crime will pay the price," al-Zawahri said.
Seems clear to me. Crystal.

To all you lefties out there who would vote to establish Hug-a-Terrorist Day, and who are willing -- nay, EAGER -- to sink into a state of dhimmitude: COUNT ME OUT.

I pray for peace daily. I also pray for justice.

U.S. citizens are encouraged to avoid any large crowds during active demonstrations. Also, U.S. citizens should avoid participating in demonstrations and other activities that might be deemed political by the Mexican authorities. The Mexican Constitution prohibits political activities by foreigners, and such actions may result in detention and/or deportation.

Yet Another "Job Americans Won't Do"

Source: Inciweb
San Diego, CA, July 24, 2006…The Horse Fire started on the Cleveland National Forest, on Sunday, July 23, 2006 at approximately 5:30 a.m. The incident is being managed by a California Interagency Fire Management Team. The fire is burning in Pine Creek and Hauser Wilderness Areas and is approximately 5% contained.

Currently, the fire is over 7,000 acres and is spreading primarily on the northern and southern flanks. The fire is burning in steep and rough terrain with brush and chaparral that last burned in the Laguna Fire in 1970. Based on the fire investigation, the cause of the fire was an abandoned campfire in a side drainage of Horsethief Canyon. Evidence collected at the scene suggests that the campfire was left by undocumented immigrants.

Anti-illegal immigration billboards feature upside down U.S. flag

Source: Fox21

(crybaby BS bolded for your reading pleasure)
ASHEVILLE, N.C. Some Buncombe County Republicans have posted a billboard using a Mexican flag flying above an upside-down American flag to call attention to illegal immigration.
The billboard includes the words "Had Enough?" It was posted on July 13th and is scheduled to run for a month.

Supporters say the billboards aren't about targeting certain races or the area's legal immigrants. The president of the Buncombe County Republican Action Club says it has an issue with lawbreakers, adding that demands that illegal immigrants should be treated like citizens is, in the president's words, "a bit over the top."

Local immigrant leaders say the billboards have generated concerned e-mails and phone calls, and they worry the signs could offend and scare both legal and illegal immigrants. One advocate for Asheville-area Hispanics is telling people to ignore the billboards.
You know what?  I think if a legal immigrant is, and I quote, "offended and scared" by the simple act of someone telling the truth?  Perhaps they don't have the stuff to be Americans.

Maintaining a democracy is a serious business, and these folks are not serious people, in fact I would say they've demonstrated pretty clearly that they have no business impersonating Americans.

Catch The Fevah!

Source: Mcall
Allentown Councilman Louis J. Hershman, saying he wants to protect jobs of legal U.S. residents, is preparing a Hazleton-style ordinance that would penalize city businesses that hire illegal immigrants and landlords who rent to them.

Hershman’s version, still in draft form, omits many of the Hazleton Illegal Immigration Relief Act’s references connecting illegal immigrants and crime, but contains essentially the same prohibitions and penalties.

If the ordinance is enacted, Allentown would become the largest city in the state to consider such a law. Several other Pennsylvania cities, boroughs and townships, including Hazleton in Luzerne County, Mount Pocono in Monroe County and Frackville in Schuylkill County, have approved or are considering similar legislation.
Yep, it's becoming clearer and clearer to me that Americans really like illegal immigration, yep.

On a serious note, this is an amazing example of how things are supposed to work in this country.  When the federal government refuses to enforce the law, you do it locally.

Show Prep 072606: Can Hispanics Be Trusted Border Patrol Agents?

Source: wapo

And, though wapo would rather be beaten bloody than reveal this, these corrupt officers tend more often than not to share Hispanic surnames? Are you as shocked as I am?
SAN DIEGO -- Federal law enforcement officials are investigating a series of bribery and smuggling cases in what they fear is a sign of increased corruption among officers who patrol the Mexican border.

Two brothers who worked for the U.S. Border Patrol disappeared in June while under investigation for smuggling drugs and immigrants, and are believed to have fled to Mexico. In the past month, two agents from Customs and Border Protection, which guards border checkpoints, were indicted for taking bribes to allow illegal immigrants to enter the United States. And earlier this month, two Border Patrol supervisory agents pleaded guilty to accepting nearly $200,000 in payoffs to release smugglers and illegal immigrants who had been detained.
Two brothers? Fled to Mexico? Huh?

Source: illegalfellatorsjournal

The surrender first folks bring us this offering...
In trying to reconcile two dramatically different bills addressing illegal immigration, Congress is in danger of forgetting an important lesson of life on the southern U.S. border: whatever legislators do has to recognize the reality on the ground. In part, that means understanding that the millions of crossings every year by illegal aliens will be curbed only if the problem can be made manageable. Right now, with Border Patrol agents trying to apprehend potential busboys and gardeners along with terrorists and gang members, the problem is too big for any law enforcement agency in a democratic society to tackle.

In addition to all of the other challenges Border Patrol agents face, there is growing evidence that more of them are falling prey to the temptations of bribery and corruption, even though only 1 out of 30 applicants to the force is accepted after a rigorous screening. Just this month, two Border Patrol supervisors pleaded guilty to accepting more than $186,000 in payoffs in exchange for releasing immigrant smugglers from federal custody. In June brothers Raul and Fidel Villarreal, both Border Patrol agents, disappeared into Mexico after investigators began to suspect they were smuggling drugs and immigrants.

Federal agents here in Arizona report that investigators have uncovered many improper relationships between Border Patrol personnel and Mexican women who are illegally in the U.S. "There is tremendous temptation for someone who is less than honest to work with [smugglers]," Andrew Black, an FBI agent with the Border Corruption Task Force in San Diego, told the Washington Post. "Someone who is working the border can make their salary in a couple of nights."
Source: Vdare

An enterprising reader of Vdare googled his way to fame and fortune...
The Journal has yet another open borders article up today, this one by John Fund. Now they’re saying that enforcement won’t work because the Border Patrol is all corrupt.[JOHN FUND ON THE TRAIL Borderline Insanity, July 24, 2006, online for free.]

So I did a Google: Border Patrol + corruption. These are ALL the names of corrupt BP agents that I gleaned from the first 3 pages or so of hits:

1. Oscar Antonio Ortiz
2. Juan Alvarez
3. Ignacio Ramos
4. David Duque (pronounced “dook”)
5. Jose Alonso Compean
6. Luis Higareda
7. Two brothers named Villareal

Noticing a pattern? This is not selective sampling. Verify it if you want. I couldn’t find a picture of Mr. Duque. I figured his surname was French. But a glimpse at DexOnline showed that nearly everyone in Chicago with this surname had a Spanish given name.
And of course...what happens when illegals man the line?
(San Diego) An illegal immigrant pleaded guilty Friday to conspiring to smuggle people into the United States while working as a Border Patrol agent, the U.S. Attorney's office said.

Oscar Antonio Ortiz, 28, admitted to conspiring to smuggle at least 100 people when assigned to the Border Patrol's El Cajon station, east of San Diego. He also pleaded guilty to making a false claim to U.S. citizenship.

Ortiz applied for the Border Patrol job in 2001 with a fake birth certificate that said he was born in Chicago even though he is a Mexican citizen who was born in Tijuana, Mexico, according to the federal complaint. He resigned after his arrest in August.
Drug Control: INS and Customs Can Do More To Prevent Drug-Related
Employee Corruption
(Testimony, 04/21/99, GAO/T-GGD-99-86).
The corruption of Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) and U.S.
Customs Service employees along the Southwest border by drug traffickers
is a serious and continuing threat. Some of these employees have waved
drug loads through ports of entry, coordinated the movement of drugs
across the border, transported drugs past Border Patrol checkpoints,
sold drugs, and revealed drug intelligence information. Both INS and
Customs have policies and procedures to help ensure the integrity of
their employees. However, neither agency is taking full advantage of its
policies, procedures, and the lessons to be learned from closed
corruption cases to address the rising threat of employee corruption on
the Southwest border. For example, although the agencies generally
completed background investigations for new hires by the end of their
first year on the job, reinvestigations were typically overdue, in some
cases by as much as three years.
U.S. agent had prior arrest on pot charge
Charged in smuggling sting; fled U.S. after '89 violation
A U.S. Customs and Border Protection agent arrested earlier this month on a drug smuggling charge fled to Colombia 15 years ago to avoid trial in a previous drug smuggling case, federal court records show.
Fernando Arango, who worked as an inspector at the Mariposa Port of Entry in Nogales, Ariz., was arrested Oct. 2, after he accepted a $50,000 bribe in a cocaine sting at the port, according to a complaint filed by the U.S. Attorney's office.
Prosecutors highlighted the past felony charges while arguing that Arango was a flight risk during a detention hearing last Friday in U.S. District Court in Tucson.
Arango was charged with a felony marijuana violation in Polk County, Fla., in 1989, Assistant U.S. Attorney Jim Lacey told the court during the hearing. Arango then fled to Colombia and resurfaced 10 years later, working as a police informant in Florida. Law enforcement officials he worked with helped him obtain a job with Customs and Border Protection, Lacey said.
Border Patrol Secrets

This comes from "Judicial Watch" who had to file a FOIA request to see this information. The Department of Homeland Security resisted, again, when you see this information you'll understand why...
“Do not talk about amnesty, increase in apprehensions, or give comparisons of past immigration reform proposals.”

“Do not provide statistics on apprehension spikes or past amnesty data.”

This is what Border Patrol agents were told in a January 2004 memo obtained by Judicial Watch in May 2005, entitled “White House Approved Talking Points.” At the time the memo was crafted, President Bush had just announced a new “temporary worker program” for illegal immigrants. If the president’s initiative were to have negative repercussions, Bush administration officials seemingly reasoned, the public must not know.

This is hardly the stuff of open, honest and responsible government.

The memo, obtained by Judicial Watch through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit, relates to a Border Patrol survey initiated in January 2004. Following a high-profile speech by the President on January 7, where he floated what amounted to an amnesty program for illegal immigrants, Border Patrol agents began asking randomly chosen illegals caught at the border if they were trying to cross because of the president’s proposal.

In less than three weeks the Bush administration abruptly shut down the survey. Border Patrol agents were ordered not to discuss its early findings with the press. The government, of course, never issued a report on the survey or its findings.

Judicial Watch immediately filed a Freedom of Information Act request with the Department of Homeland Security to get to the truth in the matter. When Homeland Security resisted, we sued, forcing the release of 1,000 documents, including the aforementioned talking points memo. In reviewing this information, it is easy to see why the Bush administration was adamant about keeping the surveys secret.

Here are some more disturbing survey findings the Bush administration tried to keep from you:

1. President Bush’s “temporary guest worker” program was broadly interpreted as an amnesty program by illegal immigrants from Mexico.
2. Early results from the Border Patrol survey indicated President Bush’s proposal did, in fact, lure greater numbers of illegal immigrants to the U.S. Approximately 45% of respondents crossed illegally based upon rumors of a Bush amnesty program.
3. Approximately 63% received Mexican government or media information supporting the notion of a Bush administration amnesty program.
4. When asked if they would seek amnesty if offered, 80% of apprehended illegal immigrants answered, “yes.”
5. More than 60% of those apprehended had previously entered the United States illegally, some as many as six times.
6. Approximately 66% desired to petition for family members to join them in the United States.

The survey data, when combined with anecdotal remarks, presents a clear picture of the chaotic state of our nation’s borders and the likely damaging results of the president’s amnesty proposal. Illegal immigrants are crossing our borders again and again without fear of any repercussions. They intend on staying in perpetuity, and bringing their friends and families with them. Some, undoubtedly, are conspiring to do us harm.

In his January 7 speech to the nation, President Bush told the American people that first and foremost, “America must protect its borders.” Following the attacks of September 11, he said, “This duty of the federal government has become even more urgent.”

While correctly identifying the problem, the president’s solution is baffling. How can we ensure border security while, at the same time, allowing illegal immigrants to cross our borders and then providing them with pseudo-citizenship when they get here?

The Bush administration stonewalled Judicial Watch in court for almost a year to make sure the negative impact of the president’s proposed amnesty program would remain a well-kept secret from the American people. Bush administration officials withheld information from the American people they knew would be embarrassing.

Well, now the truth is out.
When the lies and dishonesty trickle down from the very top it takes a lot of chutzpah to damn those below when the bosses are in many ways much worse.

Immigration Proposal Aims to Bridge Republican Divide
No, it doesn't.
In an attempt to strike a pre-election Republican compromise on immigration, two conservative lawmakers unveiled a plan today that would allow most of the 11 million illegal immigrants in the United States a chance to work here legally, but only after the government certifies that U.S. borders have been sufficiently secured.

The proposal -- sponsored by Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (Tex.) and Rep. Mike Pence (Ind.) -- would pressure illegal immigrants to "self-deport" to their home countries within two years of the law's enactment and apply for a new kind of visa that would allow them to return to the United States quickly and work legally if a job awaits them. They would have to work here for 17 years, however, to be eligible for U.S. citizenship.
This bill takes the loathsome Senate bill and adds just a faint hint of the sublimely ridiculous into the equation. I'm trying to get Bryanna Bevens on the show tomorrow afternoon to fisk this nonsense as she's taken the lead on analyzing it.

Welcoming The Enemy?

Source: Yahoo news
US Arab group sues Rice, Rumsfeld over Lebanon evacuation
(jihadist motivations bolded for your reading pleasure)...
WASHINGTON (AFP) - An Arab-American group sued top Bush administration officials, claiming it bungled the evacuation from Lebanon of US nationals, leaving them vulnerable to the Israeli military offensive.

In their suit against US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld filed in a Detroit, Michigan federal court, the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) asked the court to order the government to stop shipping weapons to
Israel as long as US citizens remain in danger inside Lebanon.

"At no time has President (George W.) Bush, Secretary of State Rice, or Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld called for a ceasefire in Lebanon," said ADC president Mary Rose Oakar.

"To the contrary, the Bush administration has encouraged the violence by sending an urgent shipment of bombs to Israel, giving that country the green light to continue in its indiscriminate bombing of Lebanon," Oakar said in a statement.

"This has placed innocent civilians, including thousands of US citizens, in harm's way and has resulted in injuring several US citizens in Lebanon."

The suit, filed by the ADC and 34 Lebanese-Americans who have either left Lebanon or are trying still to get out, charges the government with violating their constitutional rights to protection with the much-criticized, slow evacuation of US nationals, and by aiding Israel's attacks, which threaten to harm US nationals.

The suit asks for an emergency court order to stop the US sending more weapons to Israel as long as US citizens are in danger in Lebanon.

It also asks that the court order Rice and Rumsfeld to seek a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon's Hezbollah militia to enable US nationals to flee Lebanon, and to make better efforts to help them depart the country.
This is the danger of allowing your enemy to sup at your table.  He will feel he is at home and use your strengths and protections against you.  Please allow me to call a spade a spade here.  These are extremist Jihadi elements in our country waging war against both us and Israel.

I think, personally, we should have left their asses there in Lebanon, can you give me a good reason for these people to be there, in Jihadiville?

They are using this tactic because Hezbollah has over reached and now stands in mortal danger, which places our jihad and sharia loving fellow citizens in a bit of a pickle.  They now have clearly, and unambiguously taken a stand on the side of terrorism which I think we can all agree is a no-no

Or are you really naive enough to believe their cock and bull story?

Can we PLEASE kick them out now?

Please?

Damn, Just Damn!

The illegal immigration agenda is not a civil rights movement. The civil rights movement called for dignity and opportunity for all Americans. African American soldiers died for this country when they were not able to get the benefit at home of full citizenship. African Americans are first and foremost Americans ˜ we are not going back to any other country; our home is here. African Americans have given their hearts and souls to this country ˜ that is what makes you a citizen.

Consumer Friendly?

Source: Wapo
Arturo Zavala entered the United States illegally from Mexico in 1976 and picked mushrooms in Pennsylvania for a decade before he became a legal resident. But that menial labor was not the toughest part of life here.

More difficult was gaining permission for his wife, daughter and two younger sons to join him and his eldest son here. The family finally reunited in 2001, 14 years after Zavala received his green card as part of a 1986 amnesty program for illegal immigrants.
Seeing as I think the '86 amnesty was a very bad idea, you'll be shocked to find I don't give a rat's furry hindquarters about this, or whether or not our hombre here faced difficulties in stocking this country with even more of his countrymen.

What did catch my eye is coming up...
The long delays for Zavala’s family were among the many unintended consequences of the 1986 law, which allowed nearly 3 million immigrants to gain legal status. But illegal workers and the government may face far greater problems if pending immigration legislation passes and three times as many people — as many as 10 million by some estimates — are permitted to apply for legalization.

“It would be an utter meltdown,” said Peggy Gleason, a senior attorney at the Catholic Legal Immigration Network. “Despite the problems, [the 1986 amnesty] was actually an enormous success. Government made this huge effort to make all these offices that were very consumer friendly. I have no idea what the government is doing right now to prepare, but back then, they thought about it hard.”
Two things. Consumer friendly? Their not buying a Snicker's bar folks, this is citiznship we're talking about here. You know, people coming here to join our national family, not crazy uncle Ernie dropping by for the weekend.

And two: What about fraud? Think there was any fraud post the 1986 amnesty? If you said yes you win a kewpie doll. Fraud was rampant and endemic as the system was overwhelmed and as a secret special bonus weak willed and treasonous politicians used citizenship to buy off new voters. Lovely, I feel all warm and snuggly inside now.

Illegal Immigration and Healthcare

This article is fascinating, and provides the most in-depth, experiential look I've seen at the effects on healthcare providers of an influx of non-English speaking residents into an area.

Source: Charleston Post and Courier

Every day, Josie Silvagnoli finds the words to describe birth, death and much that comes in between.

The Medical University of South Carolina interpreter works in the valley between two languages, slipping easily between English and Spanish to help doctors and nurses communicate with patients who don't speak English.

She's a broker between cultures, ferrying information to doctors about a patient's symptoms and translating medical jargon and treatment details.

The people Silvagnoli serves are a growing part of the hospital's patient population. The number of patients who report Spanish as their primary language has more than doubled in the past two years, from 794 in January 2004 to 2,081 last month. The number of patients who speak Portuguese is rising, too.

*SNIP*

All hospitals that receive federal funds must provide interpreting services, whether in person or on the phone, for free. To meet the need, MUSC has built a medical interpreting program during the past five years. It now staffs 14 interpreters during the day. Overnight, doctors, nurses and patients rely on Language Line, a California-based telephone service.

*SNIP*

"We're not going to be able to keep up with the demand in the near future," said Jason Roberson, a Spanish interpreter who coordinates the hospital's cultural competency program. "The only way to keep up is to recruit more Spanish speakers" to other parts of the staff.

*SNIP*

Physicians say adding bilingual support staff is key. Now, when Spanish-speaking patients call Ashley River OB/GYN to make an appointment, receptionists have to pull Puerto Rico-born Dr. Joyce Noriega out of exams to speak to them. Same when Hispanic patients get lost on their way to the office and call for directions, or when women who have just given birth need instructions in Spanish.

"It's a little bit disruptive to the access of care," Noriega said. "It makes it hard for me to care for a lot of patients if I have 20 people that I'm having to answer the phone for."

*SNIP*

When the talk is unclear, doctors say continuity of care breaks down. Noriega recalls seeing charts of pregnant patients where health histories were incomplete or incorrect because of language barriers. Essential elements such as whether they'd had a baby before and, if they had diabetes, how and when they'd been treated, were prone to be wrong, she said.

This isn't fair to anyone...and it's only one facet of the myriad problems we face as a nation with regards to illegal immigration. Our government is aggressively trying to bankrupt the American people and change this country for the worse. I don't know why. I don't even really care -- they just have to be stopped.

Whatever it takes.

Oh, and this is for the politically correct bed wetters and cry babies that infest this sites comment section.  Try to refute with facts, see, a fact isn't racist no matter how much it may not comport with your lunatic world view.  As KD sez "It don't take a rocket surgeon."

And yes Dave, to answer your burning question, I can usually tell when someone is in this country illegally.  Perhaps growing up in a major metroplitan area and working with them for thirty years in hospitality has given me an observational acuity that your binge drinking college years denied ya.

Mildred Knocks it Out of the Park

Hats off to Mildred Fischer, who wrote a tremendous letter to The Free Lance-Star. A taste of the goodness...

SEN. EDWARD KENNEDY'S Independence Day commentary ["This Fourth of July, let's remember: We're a nation of immigrants"] is more propaganda than truth. When Walt Whitman wrote about "a teaming of nations," immigrants came to the United States legally. Illegal aliens come now. The debate is not about entitlement to citizenship. It is about illegal immigration.

Let Kennedy show one community where illegals made a contribution. Our future does not depend on illegal aliens. It depends on Americans. Standing on the Mall during the recent immigration demonstration, did he not see foreign flags and anti-American signs?

Illegal aliens are not undocumented workers. They have broken U.S. immigration laws and are criminals. American workers will take jobs for decent wages, causing prosperity twofold. With a decent wage, American workers would have more disposable income, which would stay in this country, not go south of the border. Also, there would be a lighter burden on the social infrastructure--education, health care, welfare; no translators in hospitals and government offices solely to benefit aliens; no money wasted providing instructions and directions in a foreign language.

Police breakup Jonesborough rally - Tennessee Volunteer Minutemen clash with Hispanics
Published 07/23/2006

By Staff report -Kingsport Times-News

JONESBOROUGH - What began as a peaceful illegal immigration demonstration turned briefly physical Saturday morning in Jonesborough after one side charged the other over the presence of a Mexican flag.

Carl Twofeathers Whitaker, a Sevierville resident who is running as an independent candidate for governor, was charged by members of a Hispanic group seeking to take the flag away from him.
First you get the headline -- "Tennessee Volunteer Minutemen clash with Hispanics." Clash is an aggressive verb, and the subject of the verb is the Minutemen, implying what? That the Minutemen were the aggressors.

Then you get the opening paragraph with "...one side charged the other over the presence of a Mexican flag." Even without the flashing neon of the headline, you'd assume that the Minutemen got physical over the presence of a Mexican flag in the Hispanic group.

Finally, in the second paragraph you find out that it was the Hispanic group who charged the Minuteman. As if the reporter was reluctant to share that, as always, it was the people opposing the Minutemen who got physical.

I have a little experience with this, folks.

The Hispanic group became angry at Whitaker because he had a Mexican flag tucked in his back pocket. They thought it was a deliberate provocation, aimed at disrespecting them.

Whitaker said he couldn't hold his protest sign properly unless he stuck the flag partially in his pants pocket.

As Whitaker was being interviewed by a WCYB-TV reporter, several of the immigrants charged him in an apparent attempt to grab the flag.

Authorities reacted quickly, separating the two sides and breaking up the rally that had been scheduled to last for an hour.
In the second paragraph, it is reported that "Whitaker...was charged by members of a Hispanic group seeking to take the flag away from him." Yet, in the closing paragraphs, it is referred to as "an apparent attempt to grab the flag."

Did the alleged journalist even try to find out what really happened? Was anyone from the Hispanic group asked why they charged Whitaker? It certainly doesn't appear so. What if they meant to harm the Minuteman, and not just grab his flag?

Thanks to a biased media, we'll probably never know.

(Utterly stupid and nation killing statement bolded for your reading pleasure as always)...
A controversial billboard has been moved from Tucson's Southside to north of Downtown. The conservative nonprofit group grassfire.org put the billboard up last Friday at Interstate 10 and South 6th Avenue. The billboard says, "Stop the Invasion, Secure our Borders." The message is a reference to illegal immigrants coming to the United States. When Elizabeth and Marvella Vargas left Gym's Fitness Center Friday morning, they noticed that the billboard was down, and the women were glad. Elizabeth Vargas says, "My parents came as illegal immigrants and they came for a better life, and I feel everyone is entitled to that." Marvella Vargas says, "I think (the billboard) it's just racist. To come down here in this particular area of town, this is primarily a Hispanic neighborhood.
"I feel everyone is entitled to that?"

Import Scum And Get?

Source: The Statesman

Video and H/T here.
TYLER, Texas — A Mexican national was sentenced to 14 life terms in prison after pleading guilty to shooting a state trooper and firing on other officers during a car chase.

Ramon Armando Ramos, 38, pleaded guilty Tuesday to 14 counts of aggravated assault on a public servant with a deadly weapon for the March 22 gunfight.
Life? These pieces of offal get to live? Oh no, they should be hung by the neck until dead and their carcasses and crap filled pants should be hung over the shiny new border fence as a warning.

One other thing, kudos to the Statesmen for yet another misleading detail. If you watch the video you will see the officer never unholstered his weapon, yet the paper refers to this as a 'gunfight?'

Being the helpful fellow I am allow me to correct their illegal fellating BS. These criminal scum, these foreign soldiers operating on our soil overwhelmed this cop two to one, they cut him down in cold blood and as such it would be merely just to allow them to dry to jerky draped over the border fence. Even crows need to eat, and nothing would give me more pleasure than to know these savages' eyes were being shit out by crows right now.

And no, it makes precisely no difference to me that the cop survived, when an illegal alien dirtbag has the audacity to do this, in this country, the very least we could do is take them out behind the woodshed and do the world a favor, and stop them from soiling the same oxygen we all must breathe.

When you import savages don't be surprised when you get savagery.

'Amnesty' dead, Fox tells Mexicans

Source: WND
Mexican President Vicente Fox told radio listeners in his country that the idea of an amnesty for illegal aliens in the U.S. is dead – at least for a time.

Fox said President Bush advised him of the political realities of passing his "comprehensive immigration reform plan" this year during a flight from St. Petersburg, Russia, to Madrid, Spain. Congress will shortly be adjourning until the November election.

Fox said Bush "pointed out that this period is very short, there are only two or three weeks before Congress members go on the election campaign. So the chance of the immigration issue reaching approval in the House of Representatives and reaching join approval isn't very high."

A White House spokesman acknowledged Bush made the comment to Fox, but said that doesn't mean the president won't be back promoting his immigration plan before the end of the year.
